Brushing and Sueding
Brushing uses rotating wire rollers to lift fibre and create nap, producing the classic soft plush surface. Sueding is a related process that abrades the surface more finely, producing a shorter, denser and more uniform pile with a slightly matte appearance. Sueded plush feels tighter and tends to resist pilling better, which suits products that will be laundered frequently.
Embossing and Pressure Effects
Embossing uses heat and pressure to compress selected areas of the pile, creating a permanent relief pattern. Glitter and Metallic Effects
Glitter and metallic finishes add reflective elements to the surface. They photograph extremely well and perform strongly in online listings, which is why they appear heavily in seasonal and gift ranges. The trade off is that adhesion quality varies between suppliers. Ask how the effect is applied and always request a wash test, because poorly bonded glitter is a common source of consumer complaints and returns.
